The Beginning...

Gravity Base Tank

The construction yard at Hunterston was used for the final time between 1993 and 1996 when a Gravity Base Tank was built shortly after the Submarine Dry Dock was completed and floated out. The hole in the sea wall was rebuilt and work started on the tank.

The same contractors Costain Taylor Woodrow who built the sunbmarine dry dock won the £50 million pound deal to construct the concrete structure on behalf of Britoil PLC for the Harding field in the North Sea.
